Plant Colour / 2019–ongoing
Fugitive Images is an ongoing body of work developed through research into plant-based colour in the Silesian landscape. I extract dyes and pigments from locally gathered plants, roots, rocks, and earth, working with linen, kozo paper, and natural plant glue.
These paintings are conceived as mutable objects. Chlorophylls, carotenoids and anthocyanins fade, shift and respond to light; colour records duration, exposure and loss rather than remaining fixed. As the pigments transform, the underlying compositions persist.
Through this material instability, the work reflects on memory, mortality, and the fragile relationship between landscape, artwork, and viewer.
