STRATIGRAPHY OF TRACES

Archive of Place / 2009–2013

Stratigraphy of Traces is a series of digital prints developed as part of my doctoral research on the concept of the trace, completed in 2013. The works begin with photographs of landscapes recorded during field visits and combine them with drawings and sketches in multi-layered compositions.

Through layering, fragmentation, and recomposition, each image functions like a geological section: a structure in which traces of perception, memory, and spatial experience accumulate. Photography serves as an indexical record of place, while drawing introduces a subjective and interpretative dimension.

The series explores the graphic print as a medium for recording and reconstructing landscape—between archive and interpretation, document and memory.
